January Employee Recommendations

JAWING WITH JT:
January is usually the time to start preparing for spring, but it is still possible to do some planting during this time. Any kind of leafy green vegetables will do fine in Southern California. Vegetables like lettuce, kale, and cabbage will continue to grow well. Cover crops can still be put down at this time. It would also be a good idea to do a maintenance check on your garden equipment.

BOB’S BLOGGING:
Coco Loco by Fox Farm is my recommendation for planting, not only for January, but the whole year. It is good for hanging baskets, seedling trays, containers and vertical gardens. It doesn’t require as much water as other potting mixes. The Coir in Coco Loco behaves as sponges for nutrients and water. Other than Coconut Coir you have worm casting, kelp meal, oyster shell, Dolomite and Bat Guano, which makes a well balanced potting mix.
